The Asuran movie is based on a novel named Vekkai written by Poomani. Vekkai means heat. The movie starts in flashback 1980s where one side father and son are seen crossing river with home made bombs and other side a father, mother and daughter are hiding from the police. Then it is revealed they are family and are dalits and Narasimhan is a upper caste man who is a landlord. He wants the 3 acres of land that is owned by the man Velmurugan. For this land he torchers the family and humiliates them.
